The St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms with former Giants strong safety James Butler on a four-year contract that could be worth as much as $17 million, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Butler will be reunited with coach Steve Spagnuolo with the Rams after starting for two consecutive seasons with the Giants.

New York is left with Michael Johnson and Kenny Phillips as the starting safeties heading into '09. Former Texans safety C.C. Brown was signed last week to provide depth at that position.
