DANA POINT, Calif. -- In case you haven't heard, a team losing more (or better) compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year receives compensatory draft picks in accordance with the NFL's CBA .
The Dallas Cowboys were the only team in the NFC East to receive two compensatory picks, and they will be in the fifth (172 overall) and sixth (208) rounds. The Giants received the highest compensatory pick, which gives them the 100th overall selection in the third round.
The Redskins received a seventh-round compensatory pick (243) and the Eagles did not receive a compensatory pick. Considering how many players they've lost this offseason, they should lead the way in compensatory picks in 2010.
OK, I'll let you chew on that for a little while. We temporarily lost wireless in the media tent, but we're back up and running. With all the talk of the current recession earlier today, a few reporters thought commissioner Goodell was trying to cut back on expenses.
The good news is that the wireless at the Howard Johnson is humming.
