The Dallas Cowboys have signed tight end DajLeon Farr, who was released by the Chargers in August. There's never been a better time to be an out-of-work 6-6 tight end who didn't make a blip on the radar at the University of Miami and Memphis.
Jason Witten, Martellus Bennett, Scott Sicko (concussion) and Farr are now the Cowboys' only options at tight end. The Cowboys also waived/injured receiver Titus Ryan on Tuesday. He'll probably end up receiving an injury settlement once he clears waivers.
For a team that uses multiple tight end sets, losing John Phillips was a significant setback. He was already an excellent blocker and he was becoming a threat in the passing game. In my opinion, he had already surpassed Bennett in terms of value to the team.
