An Eagles fan named Jim Devlin was ordered by security to remove his Donovan McNabb Redskins jersey during Philadelphia's morning practice Wednesday, according to the Daily News' Les Bowen. The man said security informed him that coach Andy Reid asked for the jersey to be removed.
Devlin was standing on the sideline because of a guest pass that was supplied by a pal. Thankfully, the jersey is now tucked safely in the pal's bag and Devlin's sporting a red T-shirt (or is it burgudy??!) for the rest of practice. Jeff McLane of the Inquirer says that Devlin's not too upset over the incident, noting that he may buy some Eagles souvenirs on his way out of practice.
First of all, I think it's silly that Reid's worried about what fans on the sideline are wearing, if he indeed directed security to remove the jersey. That has absolutely nothing to do with what he's trying to accomplish on the field. Secondly, it's sort of a jerk move to accept a VIP pass to training camp and then wear a rival team's jersey to practice.
So I believe both gentlemen used poor form. Now, let's carry on with our lives. I think DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin may have shot each other a dirty look this morning. I must investigate immediately.
