Cowboys score with rookie free agents

For a team that's widely regarded as a threat to reach the Super Bowl, it seems odd that the Dallas Cowboys would have room for five undrafted rookies on the roster. But that's exactly what DallasNews.com columnist Todd Archer points out in his latest blog entry.

Safeties Barry Church and Danny McCray, fullback Chris Gronkowski, center Phil Costa and cornerback Bryan McCann all have a legitimate shot at making the 53-man roster. That's a testament to the work of college scouting coordinator Chris Hall and his boss, Tom Ciskowski, director of pro and college scouting. In the later rounds, Hall always breaks away and puts together a list of talented players who haven't been chosen.

As some of you might recall, two of the club's top players were undrafted: Tony Romo in '03 and Miles Austin in '06.
