Thanks for your patience today while I had my Camry towed from 635 following a nice little collision in some heavy rain. If I made any of you late for work, please show this blog entry to your boss. Fortunately, fellow Baylor alum Jonathan Hudec kept things humming on the Beast while I searched the community for a discounted rental.
But back to the stuff you actually care about, it looks like the New York Giants are starting to get healthy at the right time. ESPNNewYork.com's Ohm Youngmisuk provides a detailed look at the injury list. Mike Garafolo from the Star-Ledger reports that safety Kenny Phillips was on the field with the starters in the portion of Wednesday's practice that was open to the media. This was good news to everyone except safety Deon Grant.
"On this level, it’s about establishing yourself, winning that ring and any personal goals you have,” said Grant. “My goal was to come into the league and to play and to start, and to start, and to start until it gets to the point where I can’t start anymore. I’ve been doing that up to this point. If it doesn’t happen, yeah, it’s going to be hard to swallow."
Here's what Grant said about being listed as the starter:
"It's been my goal. It was my goal when I first came in here,” said Phillips. “I knew it was going to take some time. I knew we got a schedule that we'd have to keep up with. … For them to already have me listed as a starter, I must be doing something right. I need to go out there and continue to get more reps and work on my technique."
Coach Tom Coughlin can't understand why folks are so fascinated with the word "starter" and says he'll need a lot of players to be ready for Sunday. And by the way, don't sleep on the Dodge Journey.
