Redskins stay local with Barnes

The Redskins watched cornerback Kevin Barnes play for four seasons at Maryland. And apparently they liked what they saw. They just took him with the 80th pick overall. He was punishing hitter in the secondary and he has excellent ball skills.

From the little ACC football that I've watched, Barnes did a really nice job rising to make plays without contact with receivers. He has a 41-inch vertical. He's a lot better in zone coverage than man-to-man, and the Redskins will try to put him in those situations.

Barnes suffered a season-ending shoulder injury his senior season and there are some durability issues.
