After Sunday's 29-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin took full responsibility for the 11 penalties and turnovers in the red zone. But that doesn't mean he's afraid to single out some players for their poor effort. You might recall wide receiver Hakeem Nicks dropping an Eli Manning pass that was intercepted by the Titans.
"Why this is taking place with Hakeem ... you have to catch that ball," Coughlin told reporters Monday. "I can tell you, 'Yeah, the route should have been this way and the quarterback should have put it here,' and so on. You have to catch the ball."
Nicks said after the game that he attempted to race up the field before looking the ball all the way in.
"You expect a guy at this level, if he gets his hands on the ball, he better catch the ball," Coughlin said. "Period."
