Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy struggled to pick up the blitz during his rookie season and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg asked him to work on that in the offseason. McCoy didn't have a big day running the ball against the Jaguars last Sunday, but apparently he's turned the corner in his pass-blocking.
"If you know where you’re going and you recognize it very quickly -- boom -- you can utilize your physical ability," Mornhinweg said. "I think that was a dramatic jump for him from last year coming into this year."
The Rams' Steven Jackson broke off a 42-yard touchdown run against the Redskins last week, so I'm sure McCoy will get some opportunities. The Skins' defense thrives on speed and I think McCoy will look to immediately cut the ball backside when he sees linebackers closing in. McCoy has added a little bulk this season and I think you'll see him break some more tackles this week.
