More Albert Haynesworth drama

Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth denied a TV report that he reported for work Friday hung over and lashed out against the "haters" in the organization.

"I believe there's some kind of haters in the organization, that they don't like me," Haynesworth said on 106.7 The Fan in Washington on Monday evening. "I don't know if it's players, I don't know if it's coaches, I don't know who it is. Obviously somebody who doesn't like me, which is fine. But when you go out there and start making up lies, then, yeah, I've got something to say."

It's bad enough that the Redskins are losing at this time of the year. But now Haynesworth's become a huge distraction again. Mike Shanahan should just send him home for the rest of the season. There's really no reason for the two of them to engage in this staredown contest any longer. It's become laughable. Here's how Haynesworth summed up his feelings at the end of the latest Washington Post report from Jason Reid and Barry Svrluga:

"We're not putting the highest-paid guy, and a guy I think is one of the best defensive tackles in the game, on the field to try to help us win games," Haynesworth said. "They've got me sitting on the bench. So they're just trying to slander my name to say whatever they want, but we all know what the real truth is."

This has been a toxic situation for a long time. It's time to either release Haynesworth or give him paid vacation the rest of the season and get him away from his teammates. If you're not going to play him, there's no reason to let him stick around the facility and affect the rest of the players.
