Making cuts to the Cowboys' roster

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones will have to begin a massive overhaul of his roster this offseason. Dallas could end up with new starters at safety, cornerback, defensive end and four of the five spots along the offensive line.

Jones has delivered a message of continuity in the past, but that won't fly following a 6-10 season. Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com came up with a list of eight players who definitely need to be released. Not surprisingly, running back Marion Barber and Roy Williams are both on the list.

I think Williams is a sure thing because of the way Garrett phased him out of the offense down the stretch. And of course his knack for short-arming passes in traffic didn't help either. But don't underestimate Garrett's devotion to Barber. The running back may have defied him at every turn, but there's a special bond between the two that no one really understands.

MacMahon also put together a list of players "on the bubble."

I disagree that center Andre Gurode and defensive end Stephen Bowen are on the bubble. I think the Cowboys are still committed to Gurode despite his poor play at times. And Bowen's a talented player who has earned a shot at being a full-time starter.

But overall, this is as many players as I can recall being in limbo in years. In the NFC East, only the Washington Redskins will make more changes than the Cowboys.

Which Cowboys players would you release at the first chance?
