DALLAS -- Cowboys Hall of Famer Troy Aikman thinks owner Jerry Jones should someday put his former coach Jimmy Johnson in the club's famed Ring of Honor. Aikman, who entered the Ring with teammates Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin, made that comment to the Dallas Morning News this week.
""If I'm in it, if Michael Irvin is in it, if Emmitt Smith is in it, Jimmy should be there," he said. "You can't tell my story or the others' stories without Jimmy. I know Jimmy's day will come."
I just hope it comes after Drew Pearson's placed in the Ring of Honor. Roger Staubach indicated Monday that Jones had told him that Pearson's long-awaited arrival could happen soon. But the owner dismissed that thought during his news conference Tuesday.
Jones seemed to suggest that he was only considering Hall of Famers for the Ring of Honor. And if that's the case, Johnson may be waiting a long time.
