Breakfast links: Joan Collins edition

You know, I think this blog has the potential to be a dynasty. A dynasty built on links.

Philadelphia Eagles

We'll talk about this more later today, but it is, of course, foolish for Michael Vick to be using words like "dynasty" when talking about the potential his Eagles have. It's good that Vick says the team's focus is on making the playoffs at this point, since they didn't do it last year, but dynasty? How about winning one first?

Vick also says he thinks DeSean Jackson's attitude and mindset have been outstanding this offseason, which is the kind of thing that could certainly help a team on the road to dynastic dreams. Provided it can, you know, win that first one.

Washington Redskins

Mark Maske talked with some folks in the know who said that Robert Griffin III's signing in advance of training camp was important. I don't disagree. I just don't think it was ever in doubt. Had he missed some training camp, I would have admitted that the worry warts were right and there was cause for concern. But he didn't, and won't, so that's that.

Third-rounder Josh LeRibeus also signed Wednesday, to far less fanfare. But he says he doesn't like the Cowboys, so you've got that going for you. My sense is that LeRibeus matters if Kory Lichtensteiger can't get healthy, or in 2013. But he could play his way into a more significant role this year, sure.

Dallas Cowboys

Those who have worn No. 88 before Dez Bryant in Dallas have concerns about Bryant in the wake of his Monday arrest. Michael Irvin and Drew Pearson share their thoughts on the unfortunate story of the week in the NFC East.

Tim MacMahon writes that the Cowboys expected this kind of thing when they drafted Bryant -- that they knew he'd need help and guidance in order to achieve his full potential and that they're committed to providing it.

New York Giants

High-energy punter Steve Weatherford says the Giants will have no problem remaining motivated to defend their Super Bowl title, and that Tom Coughlin is the right man to deliver the right message once training camp begins next week. The Giants are the first stop I have planned on my training-camp trip this year, and as of now I will be there next Friday and Saturday and will let you know how that message is received.
