NFC East links: A Tony Romo exit strategy

Dallas Cowboys

ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins: "The Dallas Cowboys need to plan their exit strategy from quarterback Tony Romo today or they're going to be stuck in the same situation they were in when Troy Aikman retired after the 2000 season."

Play calling down the stretch was a hot topic following Dallas' loss to New York.

Philadelphia Eagles

Sam Donnellon of the Philadelphia Daily News: "If [Andy] Reid is out of theories and [Michael] Vick is out of confidence -- and that is how it sounded after Sunday's 30-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons -- then the quarterback options are simple: Start Trent Edwards instead, signaling to his team that it is OK to quit on this season, or ... Start Nick Foles and hope you run into one of those Johnny Unitas/Steve Young/Tom Brady/Kurt Warner/Aaron Rodgers situations. Or one of those Earl Morrall/Jim Plunkett/Jeff Hostetler situations."

Les Bowen of the Daily News says Foles isn't the answer.

New York Giants

Gary Myers of the New York Daily News: "Imagine this: Eli Manning vs. Peyton Manning, in an all-Manning Super Bowl XLVII in their hometown of New Orleans on Feb. 3, accompanied by world record hype, lots of fans from New York and Denver and records for gumbo sales. Halfway through the season, it's beginning to look like it actually could happen."

Coach Tom Coughlin said on Monday that he does not know if Antrel Rolle suffered a concussion in Sunday's victory over the Cowboys.

Washington Redskins

Mike Shanahan said Monday that he talked with DeAngelo Hall following the cornerback's ejection from Sunday's game.

Mark Maske of The Washington Post: "The first half of the Washington Redskins’ season showed clearly that the effort and resources the team poured into obtaining quarterback Robert Griffin III were well spent. ... Unfortunately for the Redskins, the first half of the season also underscored how far they have to go to assemble a complete team around Griffin."
