Ohm reports from East Rutherford that the news on New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle was good the day after Rolle was carted off the field with an ankle sprain. Rolle says it's not a high ankle sprain, which would be a more severe injury, and that he plans to return in time for the season opener. As I wrote last night, losing Rolle would be a significant blow for a Giants secondary that's already got a lot of question marks. So even though Rolle will have to miss time in the coming weeks, a return in time for the Sept. 8 opener in Dallas would be the best-case scenario at this point for the Giants.
In his video report, Ohm also discusses the different (3-4) looks the Giants' defense is showing in practice and defensive coordinator Perry Fewell's plan to be "multiple" this year to maximize the strengths of his personnel.
