Cowboys make roster moves

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys made a change on their defensive line, releasing tackle Landon Cohen and signing David Carter, who was among the Arizona Cardinals’ final cuts.

Cohen, who signed with the Cowboys on July 25, played in the team's first two games and had one tackle in a reserve role.

Carter, 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, played in 32 games for the Cardinals with 18 tackles, one sack, two quarterback pressures and a forced fumble. A sixth-round pick in 2011, Carter started four games. He will plug into a defensive tackle rotation with Jerome Long behind starters Jason Hatcher and Nick Hayden. Jay Ratliff is on the physically unable to perform list for at least another four games.

The Cowboys also released wide receiver Danny Coale from the practice squad. A fifth-round pick in 2012, Coale's rookie season was hampered by foot and knee injuries. Wide receiver Jamar Newsome replaces Coale on the practice squad. He was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs late in training camp. In 2012, he had five catches for 73 yards in six games for the Chiefs.
