L.J. Smith won't play against Seahawks

Eagles coach Andy Reid has ruled out tight end L.J. Smith for Sunday's game in Seattle. He said the tests for Smith's concussion have been "inconsistent."

"He's a tough guy and it can be frustrating, but this is a little different. The concussion is a little different than so many things that he's had, but he wants to play. He's a competitor, and he wants to play. It's one of those things that will pass, and he'll be fine."

Smith will be replaced by Brent Celek in the starting lineup. Smith has struggled with injuries the past two seasons and he was desperate to get back on the field. Quarterback Donovan McNabb has wanted to utilize Smith more in the red zone, an area that has been a weak spot for the Eagles. The good news is that Reggie Brown will return after missing two games with a groin injury. It also looks like defensive end Juqua Parker will be able to play despite a swollen knee.
