Redskins running back Clinton Portis was at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on Friday visiting with the same concussion specialists who saw Eagles running back Brian Westbrook earlier in the week. The Redskins have ruled out Portis for Sunday's game in Dallas, but the Pro Bowl running back says he wants to finish the season.
"Hey fans! Trying to get healthy to finish the season strong, want to make sure there aren't lingering affects before returning to the field," Portis said via Twitter on Friday.
Coach Jim Zorn said he was more worried about Portis' well-being than establishing a timetable for his return.
"We're going to make sure we take care of all the details," Zorn told reporters at Redskins Park. "We're for Clinton getting well. Each day Clinton's done a great job of communicating how he's felt, and that's what it's going to take. I want to be involved with those conversations, not so much to see 'how fast can we get him back,' but just to make sure the young man is improving and getting better."
We'll keep you updated throughout the weekend. The Skins arrive in Dallas on Saturday afternoon. Ladell Betts will once again get the start in place of Portis.
