Report: Commish gives Tuck a reprieve

The NFL has informed Giants defensive end Justin Tuck that he will not be fined for a roughing-the-passer penalty on Cowboys quarterback Brooks Bollinger last Sunday. The league originally fined Tuck $7,500 for driving Bollinger into the ground. Replays didn't seem to warrant a 15-yard penalty, much less a fine.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell quickly overturned the fine when he finally got around to watching it. I'm glad he made that decision, but it has to be embarrassing for his staff.

In other news, it looks like Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard (hamstring) will be a go for Sunday night's game. For the Giants, starting safety James Butler will be replaced by rookie Kenny Phillips.
