I was in Pittsburgh for Steelers-Cowboys, but was fortunate to watch most of the Giants-Eagles game. You had to know the story line after this game would be all about the post-Plaxico distractions, but it's also important to note that the Eagles lined up and dominated the Giants. If not for the Giants' final drive, their offensive numbers would've been truly miserable.
The Eagles served notice that they won't go away quietly, and now they're legitimate playoff contenders. By the time they line up to play next Monday against the Browns, they could have an opportunity to pass the Cowboys and Falcons in the standings. It was a huge win, so let's see what folks are saying about it:
Bob Brookover of the Inquirer says it was all about the running game Sunday. You have to love the back-handed compliments Brian Westbrook was giving Andy Reid.
Ashley Fox of the Inquirer writes about how much of an impact a healthy Westbrook has on this team.
The Reading Eagle's Steve Patton also focuses on the run-heavy offense.
Ray Parrillo says there was an L.J. Smith sighting Sunday.
Les Bowen hits just about everything in this gamer.
Rich Hofmann does a nice job avoiding the obvious and working Harold Carmichael into his column.
Phil Sheridan of the Inquirer thinks this might be a decent team.
Paul Domowitch takes a closer look at how the Eagles were able to carve up the Giants' defense.
Sam Donnellon pays tribute to the Eagles' defense.
