Cowboys' special teams continue to struggle

IRVING, Texas -- The season hasn't even begun and some people are already calling for Cowboys special teams coach Bruce Read's job. The opening kickoff didn't help Read's cause. The Texans' Andre Davis brought the kick back 68 yards after catching it eight yards deep in the end zone.

The Texans' return team opened a huge hole in the middle of the field and Davis took off. He was injured at the end of the play. I'll see if I can get you an update.

Star-Telegram columnist Randy Galloway, who's been calling for Read's job, thinks that former Cowboys special teams coach Joe Avezzano would be a good replacement.

We have a stoppage of play right now. Texans strong safety Nick Ferguson and wide receiver Harry Williams collided with each other while covering a kickoff following a Texans field goal.

Williams is surrounded by medical personnel. It looks like they're putting Williams on a stretcher. We'll keep you updated. The Texans players are all on the field in support of their teammate.
