Waiting on Shanahan

INDIANAPOLIS -- In 10 minutes, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan will take the podium and hopefully shed some light on what direction his club will go in free agency and the draft. Honestly, I don't think we'll learn much. He'll likely tell us that he hasn't decided what to do at quarterback.

I plan to ask him whether he envisions Jason Campbell being the starter in 2010. But there will also be some talk about the offensive line. Earlier today, AFC West blogger and former Denver Post beat man Bill Williamson said that he's only seen Shanahan at the combine one other time over the past decade. Shanahan's been known to sneak into town, take a look at the quarterbacks or wide receivers and then leave before anyone realizes he's there.

So the fact that he's agreed to meet with reporters today is a big step for him. OK, I'm headed over to stake out a front-row seat. I'll have a column on Shanahan and the Skins later today. Stay tuned.

Programming note: Tom Coughlin is scheduled to take the podium at 12:15 p.m. ET.
