Redskins make two transactions

Just received word that the Washington Redskins have hired longtime college assistant Chip Garber as a defensive quality control coach. He and head coach Jim Zorn once worked together at the University of Minnesota. Garber has coached on both sides of the ball during his 28 years as a coach, but he'll primarily help Greg Blache and the defense in Washington.

The Redskins also announced the signing of cornerback Byron Westbrook, who has spent the past two seasons on the club's practice squad. He's the younger brother of Eagles All-Pro running back Brian Westbrook. In the past, he's played the role of his big brother on the scout team in weeks leading up to the Philly game.
