During an "Around the League" segment Monday on the NFL Network, Jason LaCanfora reported that "executives" around the league are saying Cowboys starting running back Marion Barber is available via trade. With Felix Jones likely taking over as the starter in 2010, it makes sense that Barber would be mentioned in trade discussions. But his lucrative salary and recent injury history would scare most teams off.
LaCanfora also reported the Ravens might be willing to part with starting left tackle Jared Gaither for a "high" second-round pick. And the Washington Redskins just happen to have such a pick. Gaither played at nearby Maryland, so the Redskins should have a good feel for his ability.
Making a trade for Gaither would give the Redskins even more freedom with that No. 4 overall pick, but it would also rob them of a chance to land a quality player near the top of the second round. We'll keep you posted on any developments. I can find out pretty quickly where the Ravens stand on Gaither.
And just to avoid confusion, Jared's not part of the Bill Gaither Vocal Band.
