Jackson the starter now, and probably later

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Just sent in a news story reporting that Minnesota offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell confirmed that quarterback Tarvaris Jackson will start Sunday against Atlanta.

Bevell wouldn't discuss the Vikings' intentions beyond this week, but the timing of the announcement suggests it's not just about Gus Frerotte's lower back injury. (If it was, wouldn't the team wait until the last possible moment to evaluate Frerotte's health?)

I'll be back with more analysis later, but I wanted to make sure you had the news. My quick take: The Vikings have decided internally that Jackson will remain the starter for the rest of the season and for any potential playoff game.
