Packers add safeties coach

Green Bay continued to add to its defensive coaching staff Tuesday, hiring Darren Perry to serve as safeties coach. The team hasn't announced it, but the move is being reported by the Green Bay Press-Gazette and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Perry was a teammate of new outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene in Pittsburgh during the early 1990s. Both played for the Steelers under new Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers. Most recently, Perry was Oakland's defensive backs coach.

The move likely means that former quality control coach Joe Whitt Jr. will coach cornerbacks.
