It's been a tough preseason in the NFC North. Chicago Bears linebacker Nick Roach is the latest player to succumb to surgery, undergoing what the team described as "arthroscopic debridement" on his left knee Tuesday.
A debridement is a "surgical removal of lacerated, devitalized, or contaminated tissue," according to a dictionary definition. It was a minor-enough procedure that the team expects Roach to be recovered in time to play in the Sept. 12 season opener against the Detroit Lions.
Whether he will be a starter or a backup, however, has yet to be determined. The surgery could be enough for Pisa Tinoisamoa to win the strongside job. Stay tuned.
