CHICAGO -- There's been a lot of chatter Sunday morning about the Minnesota Vikings and possible fortifications on the way. Here's what I can tell you:
According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Vikings are scheduled to work out a number of free agent receivers this week. Two of them are Ruvell Martin, the former Green Bay Packer, and Demetrius Williams. FOX's Jay Glazer reported free agents Sam Aiken and Reggie Brown will also get workouts. Keep in mind that most players available at this point are teamless for a reason. No one the Vikings sign will break their three or four top receivers.
Mortensen also reported the Vikings could bring back Javon Walker this week.
The availability of San Diego Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson continues to be a hot topic. The bottom line is that Jackson is suspended for the first six weeks of the season. I'm not sure how interested the Vikings would be if they couldn't get immediate dividends. The NFL Network reported Jackson's suspension could be changed in a Thursday hearing. If the duration is shorter, then the Vikings and other teams might be more interested.
