Lions' offense proves high-scoring

We referenced it briefly Friday in our Final Word post, but I was still late to the Detroit Lions' offensive party. After running up 44 points on the St. Louis Rams last Sunday, the Lions emerged as the highest-scoring team in the NFC through week 5 and No. 6 overall in the NFL.

You can see the rankings in the chart accompanying this post. After losing quarterback Matthew Stafford in Week 1, it's a credit to the Lions' entire offensive group that they've made this list. It's true that last week's point total included defensive and special teams touchdowns, but the Lions offense has still scored at least 26 points in three of its five games.

Imagine what they might do if they get all of their horses on the field at the same time.
