EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Please don't panic ... yet. All I know is that Minnesota receiver Percy Harvin wasn't on the field Friday afternoon as the Vikings opened a three-day rookie minicamp.
A team spokesman said coach Brad Childress will address Harvin's absence after practice, which is scheduled to end around 4 p.m. ET. I really don't know more than that, and it probably wouldn't be fair to speculate on what might or might not be going on. We'll know soon enough.
Harvin was the No. 22 overall pick in last weekend's draft. Team officials said as recently as Tuesday that he would be in attendance this weekend.
UPDATE (4:50 p.m. ET): Harvin is hospitalized in Atlanta after falling ill Thursday while changing planes en route to Minnesota. According to Childress, Harvin has "extreme dehydration" and a virus, but has tested negative for swine flu. He will be released in 24-48 hours, Childress said, and will return to his home in Gainesville, Fla.
