Donald Driver deals with friend's death

Thanks to Twitter follower @JoeyVan11 for pointing out an especially poignant radio appearance that Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver made Tuesday.

As you probably know, Driver missed practice Monday for personal reasons. Speaking on WTMJ radio, Driver revealed he was attending the funeral of one of his closest friends. The friend, whom Driver said introduced him to his wife, died of cancer during the Packers' bye week.

"It's hard," Driver said. "The crazy part is he died in my arms. It's something that I'm going to have to deal with for a while, but I'll be able to overcome it.

"It's been hard the past five or six days. ... It's going to be one of those things that will stick with me for a long time."

Driver missed the Packers' Nov. 7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys because of a quadriceps injury, but he participated in a portion of practice Wednesday. The Packers are hopeful he will be able to play in at least a limited capacity Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
