Favre dealing with pneumonia-like illness

ATLANTA -- Greetings from the Georgia Dome press box, where we'll be watching the Green Bay Packers take on the Atlanta Falcons in a few hours.

Now, to important NFC North blog matters.

I kid. I kid.

Sort of.

ESPN's Ed Werder is reporting that Minnesota Vikings quarterback has an illness he believes to be pneumonia. Although Favre is expected to start Sunday against the Washington Redskins, the illness is serious enough that Favre needed a steroid pack and an injection Saturday. He missed the first hour of meetings because he was sleeping.

Coincidentally, Favre has had about the same number of injuries as he has had bad games this season. He's dealt with ailments in his elbow, shoulder, ankle, chin and now lungs.
