INDIANAPOLIS -- By the numbers, at least, Round 1 in Minnesota's quarterback competition goes to Sage Rosenfels. Tarvaris Jackson is now out of the game at Lucas Oil Stadium, so here are the final figures:
Rosenfels: 10 completions in 13 attempts for 91 yards over two possessions.
Jackson: Seven completions in 15 attempts for 39 yards over five possessions. He missed on six of his first eight passes but then completed five of his final seven.
I'll get into this in more detail after the game. There are mitigating factors, including the fact that Rosenfels played with the Vikings' first-team offense and Jackson played with backups. But at first blush, I'd say Rosenfels was as sharp as his numbers and Jackson was as sluggish as his.
More after the game, which Minnesota is leading 13-3 early in the fourth quarter.
