At least one prominent NFC North player has reacted to the statements attributed to Minnesota Vikings tailback Adrian Peterson, who compared NFL players' arrangement with owners as "modern-day slavery" in an interview with Yahoo! Sports.
I have to totally disagree with adrian Peterson's comparison to this situation being Modern day slavery..false.
Their [sic] is unfortunately actually still slavery existing in our world.. Literal modern day slavery.. That was a very misinformed statement
But I understand what point he was trying to make.. I just feel like he should have been advised a little differently
I'll reiterate that from everything I know about Peterson, the analogy was way out of character. It's been removed from the current version of the Yahoo! Sports post because author Doug Farrar wants "to give him the opportunity to provide context as opposed to just running with it." I'm not sure what context Peterson could provide other than acknowledging it was a poor choice of words. There is never an appropriate moment to mention slavery in cases that don't involve actual slavery.
*Update: Tuesday afternoon, Farrar restored the full quote.
