Originally, Scott of Northglenn, Colo., asked which running back -- James Starks of the Green Bay Packers or Jahvid Best of the Detroit Lions -- will have the best season in 2011. Here's what I propose: Which team's two-man backfield will finish 2011 with the most combined yards? After all, this is the first time in a while that each NFC North locale can boast a substantial No. 2 option.
It's possible that free agency could change the parameters of the debate, but I don't think that running back ranks high on anyone's priority list. So chances are decent that the combinations below will make up the tailback depth charts around the division:
Detroit Lions: Best and Mikel Leshoure
Green Bay Packers: Ryan Grant and Starks
Let me know your thoughts, keeping in mind that total yards -- and not splits between the individuals -- is the only statistic that counts. You'll have to account for the fact that the quarterback situations on some teams, most notably the Vikings, will impact how heavily the running game is utilized. I'll publish a representative sample of your thoughts, as well as my own take, by the end of the week. Have at It.
