Greetings from NFC North blog headquarters. My drive back from Wisconsin featured an inordinate amount of cars with Minnesota plates carrying people wearing the same Green Bay Packers gear they assuredly donned for Thursday night's game. So what's the play there? Go to game, go to bars, sleep in car, drive home? Solid.
Anyway, we now shift to the second part of our Week 1 festivities, especially after learning that Packers cornerback Tramon Williams was diagnosed with a bruised right shoulder and nothing more Friday morning, according to coach Mike McCarthy.
For blog newcomers: I always lay out my weekend game coverage plans for you on Friday. Today's installment is a bit later than normal, but no less important. I will travel this weekend to the Sunshine state for Sunday's game between the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It probably would have made better geographic sense to shoot down to Chicago for the Bears' game against the Atlanta Falcons, but our friends over at ESPNChicago.com will have that game blanketed. And I, for one, am really interested to see how the Lions function under their newfound status as national darlings.
We tried a new pregame routine Thursday night at Lambeau Field and I think it's going to be pretty slick moving forward. At some point Sunday morning, maybe around 10:30 a.m. ET, I'll post an item that will invite you into the comments section for an impromptu pregame chat. Our new chat software is much more conducive to real-time conversations, and hopefully I won't be talking to myself in there while you sleep off Saturday night's festivities.
