Let’s catch up on a few news items on a busy Monday:
Green Bay Packers tailback Ryan Grant (kidney) has been cleared to play Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons, coach Mike McCarthy told reporters. James Starks rushed for 63 yards on 13 carries in his first start, but there is no indication that Grant will be limited in any way against the Falcons.
Speaking on ESPN 1000, Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte indicated he is nowhere close to signing a long-term deal with the team. Forte: “And like I've said in many interviews before, this league is based on production, and my production is up there with the top running backs, elite level. I just really don't think they think that I'm at that level [or] that I'm that type of player. Our numbers were way off on that point.” As we discussed earlier, the Bears have either decided to place the franchise tag on Forte this spring or they’re watching his value go up on a weekly basis.
