Ndamukong Suh reaches out to Goodell

The NFL business day has passed without getting any official word on any plans to discipline defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who was ejected from last Thursday's game against the Green Bay Packers for unnecessary roughness.

But discussions clearly are underway behind the scenes. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Suh called NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Sunday night to apologize for his actions on the field.

It's unclear whether an apology will impact Goodell's decision. I know many of you would like to see an apology directed toward Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith, whose head Suh pounded into the ground and whose arm absorbed Suh's kick. No word on that, but we'll keep you updated.

Earlier: Last Thursday's events were the end of Suh's innocence. You have to wonder if Suh's far-reaching corporate sponsorships will take a hit. We'll soon know if his apology was genuine or mere spin.
