NFC North Wild-Card programming note

As if you had to ask! In a matter of hours, I'll be in the greater New Orleans area to take in the Detroit Lions' first playoff game in 12 years.

We'll roll out all the usual postseason bells and whistles, including an NFL Countdown Live chat that will be available on the blog starting Saturday at about 7 p.m. ET. (Kickoff is 8 p.m. ET) I'll be in there during part of the pregame and most of the game itself, lending my usual mild wit and semi-informed insight. Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc, NFC South colleague Pat Yasinskas and representatives of ESPN Stats & Information will also jump in.

We'll hit another blog jackpot if the Lions win, an event that would give us eight days of massive Lions-Green Bay Packers III hype. If they lose, we'll return to NFC North blog headquarters Sunday, wrap up their season and start looking ahead to the Packers' Jan. 15 divisional playoff against a non-division opponent.

I hear New Orleans will be quite the scene this weekend following the Sugar Bowl and in anticipation of the BCS Championship Game. I'll let you know if that's the case.
