Programming note: Unanticipated wrench

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- We've had a bit of a hiccup here to our minicamp coverage plans. The Green Bay Packers have canceled the second of the three minicamp practices and will instead hold a "private team function" that several players have tweeted will include skeet shooting. That's great for them but throws a pretty significant wrench into my hopes for gathering fresh material to use over the coming days and weeks before training camp.

I thought the Packers had the most intriguing storylines left to cover and wanted to spend a full two days looking into them. Of course, if I had a crystal ball -- or a heads-up -- I would have bolted town Tuesday night and gotten in position to catch either the Chicago Bears or Detroit Lions on the second day of their camp. This isn't the first time this has happened -- I lost a day of Lions training camp in 2008 and a day with the Bears in 2011 -- but it's no less frustrating for you or me.

As it is, I'm going to spend the rest of the morning cranking out some posts and then start the drive back to NFC North blog headquarters. Unless something changes, of course. Sorry about all of this. Those of you who suggested spending one day in each division's minicamp this week were correct, if belatedly.
