Riley Reiff deal leaves Vikings on the clock

The Detroit Lions' contract agreement with first-round draft pick Riley Reiff, as reported by the team's website, leaves the NFC North with two unsigned draft picks.

That list includes the Minnesota Vikings' first-round pick (left tackle Matt Kalil) and third-round pick (cornerback Josh Robinson). There is every reason to believe that Robinson will be signed in time to participate in the Vikings' first training camp practice Friday. Kalil, as we've discussed, is caught in a logjam of negotiations atop the first round because of "offset" language. That issue seems more likely than not to be brokered by the end of the week.

The timing of Reiff's agreement allows him to report to training camp Monday with the rest of the Lions' rookies. Rookies will participate in meetings but practice won't begin until veterans report later this week.
