Minnesota injury report

MINNEAPOLIS -- Updating you on a few key injuries Sunday to Minnesota players:

  • Cornerback Antoine Winfield suffered a right foot injury in the first half and did not return. The team’s radio broadcast initially reported it as a turf toe, but Winfield said that the injury was to the “top of my foot” but wouldn’t expand beyond that. He lobbied to return to the game in the second half, but coach Brad Childress said: “We just wanted to err on the side of caution.”

  • Receiver Percy Harvin “nicked” the left shoulder he originally injured last week at St. Louis and did not return. Childress said X-rays showed no further damage.

  • Tailback Adrian Peterson suffered what seemed to be a significant left ankle injury on a reception in the fourth quarter. He sat out one series but returned to take three consecutive carries on the Vikings’ final drive.
