NFC North Thursday practice report

Let's take a quick spin through the Thursday practice report in the NFC North:

Chicago Bears: Receiver Earl Bennett (concussion) was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Running back Michael Bush (ribs) and cornerback Tim Jennings (shoulder) continued to be sidelined as well. Defensive tackle Stephen Paea (foot) returned to practice on a limited basis. There is hope for receivers Devin Hester (concussion) and Alshon Jeffery (knee).

Detroit Lions: Defensive linemen Nick Fairley (quadriceps) and Corey Williams (knee) were the only two players who missed practice.

Green Bay Packers: Still sitting out were offensive lineman T.J. Lang (ankle), linebacker Clay Matthews (hamstring), defensive end Mike Neal (shoulder), receiver Jordy Nelson (hamstring), running back James Starks (knee) and defensive end C.J. Wilson (knee). Cornerback Sam Shields (shin) upgraded to full participation and safety Charles Woodson (collarbone) was again a limited participant.

Minnesota Vikings: Coach Leslie Frazier said there was nothing beyond an ankle injury that led to receiver Percy Harvin being placed on injured reserve. Harvin released a statement saying that the "injury just has not allowed me to progress to the point where I can help our team," and Frazier concurred. Frazier said he had no information to suggest Harvin would even have been ready for the playoffs if the Vikings advanced. Why a sprained ankle would take so long to heal remains unanswered. Meanwhile, defensive end Jared Allen (back/shoulder) did not practice but appears on track to play against the Bears.
