Rodgers: 'I don't have an answer for you'

Because it's Aaron Rodgers, and because his next contract figures to be the largest in NFL history, I feel obliged to bring you every miniscule twist and turn. And here is probably the smallest advancement of a story I can ever recall passing along: The deal was not done as of mid-afternoon Tuesday.

Per multiple reports, Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have gotten relatively close to an agreement. Rodgers made an appearance Tuesday on Milwaukee's 102.9-FM as part of a fundraiser for the MACC fund, and when asked if he was going to sign in the next day or so, he said: "We'll see what happens here." Then he added: "I don't have an answer for you."

There really isn't a deadline for the sides to come to an agreement. The Packers are in decent shape from a salary-cap perspective, and Rodgers has two more years remaining on his current deal. Unless Rodgers plans to hold out from offseason workouts, and we've gotten no indication of that possibility, it really doesn't matter if a deal is finalized today, this week, next month or in three months.

All we know now is that it hasn't happened yet.
