DuJuan Harris explains offseason absence

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- We discussed Tuesday the Green Bay Packers' crowded backfield, one that curiously hasn't included the man who finished the 2012 season as their starter. DuJuan Harris hasn't participated in organized team activities (OTAs), nor was he on the field for mandatory minicamp, and now we know why.

Harris tweeted Wednesday that doctors removed a fist-sized cyst on his lung near his heart, which was apparently found during a routine physical. Coach Mike McCarthy did not confirm the procedure but said he is confident that Harris will be ready for training camp. On that topic, Harris tweeted:

James Starks and Alex Green have taken most of the first-team repetitions this offseason, but rookies Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin will push for playing time as well. McCarthy said earlier this offseason that Harris earned a similar opportunity and there is no reason to project otherwise given the information we have at the moment.
