As you know, Minnesota Vikings tailback Adrian Peterson is up for two ESPY awards next week: Best Male Athlete and Best NFL Player. In recalling how well he returned from two torn knee ligaments in 2012, it's worth remembering how often elite athletes are permanently sidetracked by seemingly routine injuries.
There might be no better example than now-retired NBA player Grant Hill, who had a Hall-of-Fame start to his career but then lost most of four seasons because of what began as a sprained ankle. Hill eventually became a full-time player again but was never the same performer.
In this video, Hill expresses his admiration for the success and speed of Peterson's return.
