ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions right tackle Jason Fox, who made the first start of his career in the season opener against Minnesota, has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Arizona with a groin injury.
Fox will likely be replaced in the lineup by Corey Hilliard, who entered for Fox when he went out in the first half against the Vikings.
“Disappointing for him. He was playing well when he got injured, and he’ll be back,” Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said earlier this week. “When you start looking at the job Corey Hilliard did when he went in, there’s also positives to look at in that regard.”
Fox is the only player ruled out for Detroit this weekend. Defensive tackle Nick Fairley (shoulder) returned to practice Friday and is questionable for Sunday. Safety Don Carey (hamstring) is officially listed as doubtful.
Starting linebacker Ashlee Palmer, who missed Thursday’s practice with an ankle injury but returned Friday, should play Sunday. Palmer, Fairley and safety John Wendling were limited in practice Friday.
