Clay Matthews leaves with thumb injury

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- For the second straight game, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews had to leave with an injury.

On Sunday against the Detroit Lions, it was because of a thumb injury in the third quarter.

Matthews had returned on Sunday after dropping out of the Packers’ previous game in Week 3 at Cincinnati because of a hamstring injury.

He appeared to sustain his thumb injury on his third-quarter sack of Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. Matthews was unblocked and easily dumped Stafford for a 12-yard loss.

Shortly after the play, he went to the locker room. His return was listed as questionable.
