Sam Shields inactive for Packers

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Green Bay Packers will be significantly shorthanded in the secondary for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

Cornerbacks Sam Shields (hamstring) and Casey Hayward (hamstring) are both out.

Shields being inactive is a surprise. The team’s No. 1 corner did not practice Friday, but was listed as probable to play. Davon House will start in place of Shields.

The Giants will likely look at this as an opportunity to attack the Packers vertically with their talented wide receiver trio of Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle.

Right tackle Don Barclay (knee) is also out. He’ll be replaced by Marshall Newhouse.
