Three Lions on Kiper Jr.'s All-Rookie team

For much of the season, defensive end Ziggy Ansah and offensive guard Larry Warford were on Mel Kiper Jr.'s list of the top rookies in the NFL.

So it is no surprise they made his All-Rookie team, announced Friday.

Warford played every snap this season for Detroit and did not allow a sack. There was a thought he might have even had an outside shot at being named an All-Pro.

Ansah led all rookies in sacks, with eight, and was a bit of a surprise considering how raw he was thought to be coming out of BYU. But he lived up to being a first-round selection.

Kiper Jr. had Warford as his No. 10 overall rookie, and Ansah at No. 16.

These were two of Martin Mayhew's better draft picks this season.

The third Lion to make the team is Sam Martin, who was sixth in the NFL in punting (47.2 yards per punt) and 10th in net yards per punt (40.4). He also put 22 punts inside the 20-yard line.
